Due to my new found interest in the Valve release, Left 4 Dead, I've decided to axe one of the slower COD4 servers, in this case the Crash server, in favor of an L4D server. More details soon... 

I've been getting ready for my first born. To be frank, I don't have the time to administrate these two servers as well as I'd have liked. Please visit the forums for more details on my recruitment policies! Your interest and help is appreciated.

 

I think most of the console messages try to get the point across in an amusing way... Our admins are mean and hateful and bitter. Well... at least the active admin staff. And I'm not going to deny it.  Some of our admins are outright dicks. It's fact. You were warned.  That said, I hope they didn't hurt your feelings much. 

The bottom line is, if you want to be unbanned, just come in and make a nice request to be unbanned. We'll unban you over and over as long as you're not being a turd. In fact, even the meanest admin I have might stay his bitter and hateful hand if he's seen you're laid back about getting ass-raped with admin over and over.

All of this happens to be a great way to screen out the irate teenagers and insane whiners of the world. If they come in and are all "up yours" to me, I'll be all "that's not nice, now I can't unban you." The End.

Moral of the story: If you're kicked or banned, STAY CALM and be polite and I'll unban you.

 

Because we missed playing some of the other maps. We're going to go ahead and try out a rotation server where the Crash server used to be.  Don't worry, there's only 4 maps, and Crash is one of them. So there will be plenty of Crash to go around.

This is just a trial, but I'm hoping it works out.

 

I've set up a new instance of Teamspeak on the server mostly because people like Caboose and Pringles, who were on the same IP couldn't be connected at the same time.  Vent also has just about the worst admin interface I've ever seen. In essence, TS is better for us. So, the address for it is: slickgamer.com, default port.

Everyone will have to be set up with a new account, so you'll have to coordinate with myself or Caboose. Once we get a few admins set up I'm going to set all of the channels to moderated.

 

Because of the plight of a family we're all familiar with, I've recently added links to our site to donate to the Kidney Cancer Association. It's a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting those with Kidney (Renal) Cancer, and to funding research for Kidney Cancer.

Once again, donating to the KCA is NOT manditory, but it is obviously encouraged. Our hearts and prayers go out to the Lulie family and their mother (and wife) in hopes that she be cured of this serious disease.

 

Yeah so in the process of "upgrading" the site, all of your user data got hosed. So over the next few days I will be restoring data and rebuilding the site.  Thank you for your patience.

 

I have now set us up a Ventrillo Server. It's password protected ONLY to prevent people that have no interest in playing games with us from using it. Outside of that, it's open to the public. (Providing the afformentioned public is playing games with us).

I've set us up a CoD4 TDM server. There's a few things you should all know.

1. It's not currently showing up in the server search listings. This is due to some bugs on Infinity Ward's part. They're working to fix them. I've been told that in a few days our server will show up in the list. So expect low traffic until then, but at least those of us with CoD4 can go screw around.

2. DO NOT buy CoD4 expecting the server to be here forever. Currently it's in a "trial" state. I want to see how it affects performance and the like. So far so good, but give it time. I still encourage people to get the game based on the fact it's a good game, and not because of some sort of community requirement.

To connect to our server until it shows up in the list, I'd recomment opening the console box with "~" and typing in:    connect slickgamer.com

 

This last weekend I upgraded to a much faster server. The old 1.7Ghz server on a 10Mb connection is going to have to make way for this new Opteron Dual Core server on a 100Mb connection. My reasons for doing this are many, most of which don't necessarily pertain to Slickgamer; but it will allow us to have a better overall gaming experience, and probably more servers.

As you can see a lot of the website content is gone. This is because I've upgraded to a new version of DotNetNuke and I plan on mantaining this site a little more. There will be plenty more changes, and I will look into salvaging the old content if I can.

Please try to get them as populated as possible, we really have to make sure that this server will be decent for our gameservers before the end of the month. If I can see before the end of the month that for some reason this new server isn't going to be good for our community and my business, then I'll still have time to switch back until I can find a better solution.
